F. Stoltzenberg was an atelier and dealer in gold embroidery and church textiles, based in Roermond (ca. 1838-1907) In 1852, Jet Stoltzenberg-Receveur died. She left her husband a considerable sum of money. This made it possible for him, together with P.J.H. Cuypers and E.F. Georges (who would leave by 1854), to establish a second business - in ecclesiastical sculpture - known as Atelier Cuypers-Stoltzenberg. Stoltzenberg's studio operated independently of this company. Probably, according to the contract, Cuypers was not even allowed to enter the same market.
