Dirk Frederik Wouda, born April 5, 1880 Noordhorn, died June 11, 1961 Leeuwarden. Studied at the Polytechnic School in Delft. Chief engineer at the Provincial Water Works (1912-1947). Designed the steam pumping station at Tacozijl near Lemmer (1920), the dike raising between the Afsluitdijk and Zwarte Haan, the normalization of the Linde. Wouda also designed the building of the former Buma Library (1933), Grote Kerkstraat 29, which housed the HCL until 2007. Wouda was also president of the Ver. voor Middelbaar Technisch en Ambachtsonderwijs, the Woningvereniging Leeuwarden, and the Natuurkundig Genootschap. In addition, Wouda was a member of the Leeuwarder Schoonheidscommissie and the Provincial Advisory Committee for the Preservation of Monuments. He lived at Emmakade number 103, later at number 51.
