Gérard Antoine Henri van der Stok (Plantungan, January 28, 1870 - The Hague, February 2, 1946) was a Dutch naval officer, sculptor, glass artist, graphic artist, painter and draughtsman. Van der Stok was a son of Nicolaas Pieter van der Stok and Johanna Suzanna Kühr. He was born on the island of Java in the Dutch East Indies, where his Amsterdam-born father worked as an officer of health. After HBS, he studied at the Royal Naval Institute and was a naval officer from 1889 to 1903, most recently as a lieutenant of sea second class. He married Henrina Johanna Elisabeth Werle in 1902; they lived in The Hague from 1903. Van der Stok took lessons from Philippe Zilcken (1903) and Willem van Konijnenburg (1908), but was otherwise self-taught as an artist. His paintings included landscapes and history paintings, as well as etchings, engravings and lithographs. He also created sculptures, murals and stained glass windows. As a glazier, Van der Stok was primarily a designer, but he also executed windows, using antique glass. He worked for some time in the glass studios of Jan Schouten and Liefkes. His windows often have a geometric pattern with stylized painted figures. Among others, he participated in an exhibition of the society St. Maarten in Utrecht (1920), the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels modernes (1925) in Paris, the Nederlandsche Nijverheidstentoonstelling (1928) in Rotterdam and the world exhibitions in New York (1934) and Brussels (1935). In Utrecht he won a silver medal for his woodcuts, in Paris three gold medals for a mural and gobelins. He was additionally appointed Officier de l'Instruction Publique with Theodoor van Lelyveld after Paris. He was a board member of the Hague Art Circle, secretary of the Pulchri Studio, co-founder and vice president of the Haagsche Federatie van Beeldende Kunstenaarsverenigingen and co-founder and president of the Vereeniging tot bevordering van de grafische kunst "De Grafische. In 1940 he was appointed knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau. Van der Stok died a few days after his 76th birthday.
