Buijs & Lürsen
As early as 1919, Buijs and Lürsen worked together on various projects, with Buijs being the designer-designer and Lürsen the elaborator-constructor. From the middle of 1920, almost all designs were signed "the architects ir. Jan W.E. Buijs and Joan B. Lürsen. In 1924, when Buijs moved from Haarlem to The Hague, the collaboration turned into a partnership. Only from 1938 did a stamp with 'Architectenbureau Buijs and Lürsen' appear on the drawings. The firm continued, sometimes supplemented by draftsmen, in this form until 1955. Adrianus van Haaren, who from 1939 regularly worked with them as a draughtsman and model maker, then became a partner. Shortly thereafter, Buijs left the firm for health reasons, which was continued by Lürsen and Van Haaren until 1974. After 1974, Van Haaren carried out several more renovations to buildings designed by the firm. Van Haaren, born in 1909, died in 1979.
