(Cass308-309) And documents relating to the 1926 appearance of the book (Cass 310). During and after completing his studies in London, de Casseres worked on this book. It is proof that at the age of 24, de Casseres had developed a vision of the new field of work: scientific urbanism. De Casseres sought to integrate the sciences tangential to the spatial design of city and countryside into a new discipline: planning. In the book, de Casseres gave a general overview of the foundations and raison d'être of planology. He also gave an overview of the state of English urban planning. The book opened with a picture of Robert Delaunay's painting "La Tour" with a poem by Emile Verhaeren "Les Aubes" next to it. Probably, given the content of the poem, de Casseres identified the image with an unhealthy city. The city could only be improved by a scientific approach, the principles of the garden city and planning from a regional perspective. The book's motto reads, "The task of urban planning is the rational division of the surface of the earth.
