The inventory is an overview of all maps and drawings of the National Building Service and legal predecessors covering the period 1824-1945. A historical overview shows how this service was put together. In 1808 the Contraroleur van de Overheidsgebouwen Govert van de Linden was replaced by Johan van Westenhout of Amsterdam, assisted by A.J. Noordendorp of The Hague. After the fall of Napoleon, the offices for the palaces and the national buildings were joined into one office, which from 1815 was under the responsibility of the Minister of Public Works. The architect B.W.H. Ziesenis now became Architect of the Royal Palaces and Land Buildings. He was succeeded in 1820 by Ch. van der Straeten, who was succeeded again in 1825 by A.J. Noordendorp. When Noordendorp died in 1833, his post remained vacant due to lack of assignments. Appendix II gives an overview of the government architects from the 18th century until 1923. From Noordendorp is mentioned a design drawing for the construction of the balustrade on the bassecour of the Binnenhof (1825) and two design drawings for the construction of a lantern on the Assembly Hall (1828).
