This richly illustrated monograph presents for the first time a complete picture of the life and work of David Zuiderhoek, renowned architect, urban planner and inspired teacher at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture. Trained by three leading masters, David Zuiderhoek quickly developed into a versatile architect, urban planner and inspired teacher at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture. In 1945, he became the city architect of Amersfoort. In addition to the Kernplan and the Uitbreidingsplan in Hoofdzaak with the "Flower Leaf Theory" he devised, he designs residential neighborhoods, homes and school buildings in Amersfoort. Zuiderhoek further specialized in extensive urban planning projects, country houses, churches, schools and homes for the elderly. Today, his work is highly appreciated because it can be well adapted to modern requirements, such as the DHV office building with its still characteristic office garden.
