Architectura et Amicitia held a competition in 1947 for the rebuilding of the St. Walburgstoren in Zutphen. A. Doorewaard of Rotterdam won the first prize with a design with the motto "Isla. D. Zuiderhoek, city architect of Amersfoort, won the second prize with a design with motto 'De Grafelijke Kroon'. A.W. Jansz from Voorburg won the third prize with a design with motto 'September '49'. The design with motto 'Vivos Voco' by W. Bolle-Bakker from Haarlem received an honorable mention. The design with motto 'Turicum' by Duintjer received an honorable mention.
