Boks describes the problems the architect encountered in constructing the Bouwcentrum in Rotterdam he designed with the construction of doors:glass doors (photos glass doors Bouwcentrum) made of glass:safety glass or safety glass:securit glass. Due to foreign exchange problems it was not possible to obtain foreign glass doors, so doors and hardware had to be designed and constructed in the Netherlands. Boks describes the technical details (detail drawings) of the hardware designed by himself and Mr. Rensink of the Lips company. The French glass factory St. Gobain supported the designers with advice. The article also gives a brief description of another Dutch solution for fixing glass doors, namely the doors applied by interior designer C.L.W. Wirtz aboard the passenger ship m.s.
