This article appeared in response to the competition held by the Provincial Water Supply Company of North Holland among five architects who had to make a design for a water tower in Laren. The problem with this, according to the author, was the vague description of designing "a water tower fitting into the landscape," which got the architects into trouble. Also included is a critique from the Bouwkundig Weekblad Architectura (late 1931). The five architects were: W. Hamdorff, Th. Roeter, H. Sangster, J. Baanders and H.T. Zwiers.
