Graduated from the TH in Delft in 1956. In 1959 he joined the firm of architect Jan Verster. Six years later, Tjeerd became a member of the partnership Vester Dijkstra Cannegieter. In 1969 he is appointed extraordinary professor at TH Delft. In 1970 the partnership is changed to Verster Dijkstra Loerakker and in 1975 it is converted into the partnership architect group VDL.
