Anton Carel (Ton) Alberts (Antwerp July 6, 1927-Amsterdam August 16, 1999) was a Dutch architect best known for his anthroposophically-based organic architecture. At a young age, Ton Alberts moved to Amsterdam. There he attended the Academy of Architecture, a study he completed in 1954. Until 1974 he worked as a teacher for the Academy and also as an architect for Ben Merkelbach's office. In 1963 he started an architectural firm. From 1975 he was assisted by Max van Huut. In 1987, the two architects became partners in the new firm Alberts and Van Huut. Together they were the promoters of organic building. They became particularly famous for the design of the headquarters of the NMB bank, built in 1987 in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, and the office of the Gasunie in Groningen. The neighborhood "De Gaardes" in Houten was designed by Alberts in 1979-1980 and shows the same characteristic anthroposophic style.
