In 1968, the National Foundation for New Forms of Living was established, a collective of government, architects, housing corporations, consultants and contractors whose collective goal was to demonstrate, by building, that a different way of living could be realized without significant additional burdens on rents. With this, the initiators were responding to the practice of reconstruction housing, which during the 1960s produced more and more of the same: standard row houses, porch flats and gallery flats in incredible quantities.
