Verhagen, Pieter
Pieter Verhagen (Beverwijk, August 26, 1882 - Rotterdam, April 4, 1950) was a Dutch architect and urban planner.
Verhagen worked for the municipality of Rotterdam between 1913 and 1916, after which he set up his own architectural firm with M.J. Granpré Molière in 1916. A.J.Th. Kok joined in 1919, after which the firm continued under the name Granpré Molière, Verhagen and Kok. This firm soon became a leader in urban planning.
Verhagen was best known for his attention to the interweaving of city and landscape in urban and village expansions. During his career, he designed more than one hundred city and village extensions, parks and landscapes, including many neighborhoods now known as "1930s neighborhoods.
After the war, Verhagen was urban planning supervisor of national reconstruction, a position in which he contributed to the reconstruction plans of some 150 municipalities.
